Hindi Test

There will be a Hindi Test on the imperative and simple present and the present of the verb - to be होना।
The test will also include vocabulary , simple conversation and reading a passage.

Hindi Homework - April 16th class

Read text pages 78- 80
Draw your own family tree (follow the example on pg 80.)
Write at least 5 sentences about your own family.

Next class - Today April 23 from 3-4:30

Saturday March 5th - class cancelled

The clubhouse was reserved for Saturday March 5th and so Hindi class has been cancelled .
We will meet as usual next Saturday - March 12th

Ramayan reading practice on 2/25

On Friday 25th February the class continued the Ramayan reading practice with Dohas 3 - 4 from Sunderkdand.
Everyone present got an opportunity to practice the reading of the Dohas and chowpais and then to sing as a group.
The boys -Avnash, Dinesh, Niraj, Tarun, and Vashisht also got to practice on their various instruments and also to sing some chants.

Hindi class - Saturday February 19

1. Write 10 words (Dictation)

2. Listened to song "Sukh ke Sab Saathi" with copy of Hindi lyrics

3. Translated song

4. Reviewed Imperative form of the verb .

5. Played Hindi word game - as many words as possible in 30 seconds

6.Home work : Rewrite sentences from Lessons 1 & 2 using tum and aap forms of Imperative.

Hindi class - Saturday February 12.

This was a long class (कक्षा बहुत लंबा था , हमने बहुत काम किया!)

1.We listened to the song "Sukh ke sab ki saathi) and wrote the words we heard from the chorus.

2.We went over the Home work ( identify the verbs in the passage ) and re -read  and translated the passage again.

3.We reviewed the imperative forms of the verb
Example:
बोलना  - Infinitive :to speak
तू बोल   -with तू -remove ना and use the Verb Root
तुम बोलो - with तुम add ओ to the verb root
आप बोलिए - with आप add इए or इये to the Verb root

4. The students in the beginners class read a lesson each from the reading book -Lessons 1-5)
 (Homework re- read the lesson you read in class and read at least the next one).

The students in the advanced class read from the handout - the Shravan Kumar story -page 1-
we also went over the vocabulary and translated the first page.
(Homework - Practice reading the second page and write the vocabulary words for the first page)

Hindi Class Feb 5, 2011 - Homework

नमस्ते,

आज  कक्षा बहुत अच्छी थी, (Today Class was very nice).

Today's homework is from the worksheet regarding the play (परोसी   - neighbor introduction).

1) look at the sheet, try to translate the play (this is not mandatory but if you can will be nice).


2) Highlight all the words that are verbs to be on the work sheet (in the play structure of परोसी - neighbor introduction ) i.e. in the third scentence we would highlight हूँ.

Hindi Class Jan 29, 2011 - Homework

नमस्ते,
यह  हिंदी   कक्षा  अच्छी     थी  ,

Homework:

Beginner Students: 5 present tense scentences about someone in your family (3rd person). Do not use Main Hu. Create scetences in present tense such as, वह   कुश   हैं  , हम   अच्छे   हैं   or मेरा   पिता   लम्बा   हैं   etc..

Advance Students: Turn to the Hindi book on page 93, please create 5 scentences using the past tense. Create scentences such as, मैं   छोटा   था   (Male), मैं   अच्छी   थी   (Female), or कल   वोह   नाराज़   थी   (Female).

Hindi Class: Jan 08, 2011 - Home Work and Tips

नमस्ते,

 Today in class we have learned how to tell and speak of time in Hindi. For homework we will have to work on the sheets provided and write 4 sentences from our view considering time.

i.e. रोज़  मैं  सुबह  सैट  बजे  उठता  हु  (आदमी). या , सुबह  मेरी  माता  जी  छेह  बजे  उठती   हैं.

i.e. Roz main subah sat baje uttha hu (Male subject). Or, subah meri mata ji cheh baje utthi hain (Female subject).

Next class will be Jan 15, 2010 3pm.
